ROCK HILL, S.C. - Five graduating seniors received the Tillman Award at Winthrop University’s spring commencement exercises on May 10 at Winthrop Coliseum.
The Tillman Award is the university’s highest academic honor. Established in 1940 to honor former S.C. Governor Benjamin Ryan Tillman, the award recognizes the graduate who has most consistently met the demands of academic excellence.
The award winners, who received the Tillman Award bronze medallions, were: Brooke Ann Currie, a psychology major from Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Amy Suzannah Haley, a psychology major from Tega Cay, S.C.; Pohaikau'ilani Ann Nu'uhiwa, an early childhood education major from Honolulu, Hawaii; Tracy Ann Sims, a modern languages major from Fort Mill, S.C.; and Christina Ruth Williams, an English major from Aiken.
