Pianist Matthew Manwarren to Give Recital Sept. 30

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Pianist
Matthew Manwarren
, a Winthrop music faculty member, will present a piano recital on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in
Barnes Recital Hall
. Admission is free.
The works
Manwarren
will perform include Robert Schumann’s formidable “Fantasy in C Major, Op. 17” and works by Mozart and Schubert.
Also on the program are three etudes composed by
Leonard Mark Lewis
, assistant professor of theory and composition at Winthrop. The Sept. 30 concert will mark the debut of these pieces, which were composed for
Manwarren
.
Manwarren
is a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Frank Weinstock and Elizabeth Pridonoff. This is his third year as an associate professor of music at Winthrop.
A past president of the South Carolina Music Teachers Association and
recipient of a Fulbright Teaching Fellowship
to the University of Cape Town, South Africa,
Manwarren
is an active performer and clinician. He also serves on the faculty at the Adamant Music School in Vermont during the summers.
