Public Hearing Set for Nov. 17 at McBryde Hall on Statewide Plan for Higher Education
Quick Facts
Last year legislators created a committee to recommend a strategic plan for higher education.
Public input is welcomed and encouraged at meeting.
ROCK HILL, S.C. -
Winthrop University
and the
York County Regional Chamber of Commerce
will host a public hearing on the
Higher Education Study Committee
draft recommendations for a statewide plan for higher education.
The meeting will be held at 4 p.m., Monday, Nov. 17, in the Tuttle Dining Room, McBryde Hall, at Winthrop University. The public is welcome and encouraged to take part in this process.
In 2007, the
General Assembly
created a
Higher Education Study Committee
to work with the
S.C. Commission on Higher Education
to make recommendations for a statewide higher education strategic plan. The committee has developed a plan centered on four goals, including 1) making South Carolina one of the most educated states; 2) increasing research and innovation; 3) making South Carolina a leader in workforce training and educational services; and 4) realizing South Carolina’s potential: resources and effectiveness.
Work is on-going to develop implementation details for each of the goals. The study committee is seeking public input on their recommendations prior to releasing a full report to the General Assembly in December.
