Fall One-Act Play Festival Opens Dec. 5

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Department of Theatre and Dance will kick off the month of December with dramatic flair, presenting the Fall One-Act Play Festival on Dec. 5 at 5 p.m., Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. and Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. at the Johnson Studio Theatre.

The festival will spotlight six plays directed by advanced theatre students, and the pieces range in genre from drama to comedy. Each piece features student lighting design, and all plays are recommended for mature audiences due to adult situations.

The lineup also includes "Fresh Air," a play written by Danielle Doucet, a 2008 Winthrop graduate and dance major.

The Fall One-Act Play Festival will feature the following plays:

“Flights” by Susan Cameron
Director: Ashley Crouch (Chapin, S.C.)
Cast: David Hutto (Orangeburg, S.C.) and Rachel Middleton (Lexington, S.C.)

“Joe and Stew’s Theatre of Brotherly Love and Financial Success” by Jacquelyn Reingold
Director: Nat Kinney (Rock Hill, S.C.)
Cast: Jacci Deininger (Summerville, S.C.) and Cecily Bigham (Merrimac, Mass.)

“Because I Wanted to Say” by Sean O’Donnell
Director: Shannon Plowden (West Union, S.C.)
Cast: Katherine Hon (Anderson, S.C.) and Ray Singleton (Charleston, S.C.)

“Quick and Dirty: A Subway Fantasy” by David Riedly
Director: Amy Evans (Florence, S.C.)
Cast: Palmer Ray (Lexington, S.C.) and Emma Wilson (Liberty, S.C.)

“A Relationship … Abridged” by Seith Kramer
Director: Darryl LaPlante (Goose Creek, S.C.)
Cast: David Fitcher (Rock Hill) and Tara Sweeney (Rock Hill)

“Fresh Air” by Danielle Doucet
Director: Mary Reading (Sumter, S.C.)
Cast: Cate Davidson (Little Rock, Ark.) and Rod Gillian-Wheeler

Tickets are $8 with Winthrop I.D. and $15 for the general public, and seating is limited.
