CBA Students Earn Two Notable Awards

 Cissie Xi, an accounting major from Nantong, China, has received a $2,000 scholarship from the Charlotte chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
 The Society for Human Resource Management won the Superior Merit Award for the chapter.

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA — The Winthrop University College of Business Administration has received two new awards due to the dedication of its students and faculty.

The two awards include:

Cissie Xi, an accounting major from Nantong, China, has received a $2,000 scholarship from the Charlotte chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors. The institute awards two to three scholarships per year to regional undergraduate students. The scholarship includes a one-year student membership to the institute and the opportunity to post her resume on the IIA national resume database.

• Winthrop’s student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management has again been awarded the Student Superior Merit Award for excellence and achievement from the society. The society has more than 575 affiliated chapters worldwide. Associate Professor of Management Malayka Klimchak is the group’s advisor.

Associate Professor of Accounting Hal Manasa
is the academic liaison for the Charlotte chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

“It really is an honor that, with all the regional colleges and universities including all of Charlotte, one of our students won,” he said. “Please join us in congratulating Cissie for this outstanding recognition.”

Manasa added that the active participation of Klimchak, himself and other faculty members in the related fields is a great help and resource for students.
