ROCK HILL, S.C. - Nu-Upsilon, Winthrop’s alumni chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Inc., has established the Kappa Sigma Fraternity Endowed Scholarship to offer students access to the Winthrop Kappa Sigma experience, anchored by the fraternity’s four cornerstones: fellowship, leadership, scholarship and service.

The scholarship, established in spring 2014, will be awarded first to Kappa Sigma members who are serving as Brothers at Arms. This program, the official membership development program of the fraternity, promotes both individual and chapter development. Second preference will be given to members of sororities or fraternities who are serving in leadership positions and exhibit financial need.

The new scholarship will “ensure that others have access to the Kappa Sigma experience at Winthrop,” said Andy Wilson ’96, Winthrop’s alumni representative for Kappa Sigma.

“We felt strongly that supporting future members illustrates our high affinity for both Kappa Sigma and Winthrop,” added Wilson. The Nu-Upsilon Chapter celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2013.
