Three Board of Trustee Candidates Elected by S.C. General Assembly

ROCK HILL, S.C. – South Carolina lawmakers confirmed three Winthrop University Board of Trustee candidates who ran unopposed this week.

Donna Glenn Holley of Congressional District 2 and Ashlye Wilkerson `05 of Congressional District 6 were 
re-elected on April 2. Randy Imler `87, `00 will replace long-time member Bob Thompson in the at-large seat,
which was added to the Board of Trustees in 2008.

The three will serve six-year terms.

Holley, who is from Columbia, S.C., and came on the board in 2004, works for the South Carolina Legislative Council and is involved in school and church-related activities.

Wilkerson of Columbia, S.C., is a Ph.D. candidate with the University of South Carolina and is an instructor at University of South Carolina Upstate. She is a children’s book author and former elementary school teacher with Richland School District One.

Imler, of Tega Cay, S.C., is the executive director of the Catawba Regional Council of Governments. He still plays an active role at Winthrop, where he conducts the Winthrop University Collegiate Choir and the Winthrop University Jazz Voices. Imler earned bachelor's and master's degrees in music at Winthrop and is a past recipient (1999) of Winthrop’s Outstanding Young Alumni Award. He earned M.B.A. and D.M.A. degrees from the University of South Carolina.

Thompson, also of Rock Hill, will rotate off the board in June. The retired vice president of Springs Industries served on the Winthrop board for 19 years, from 1992-2005 and then 2008-14. He is a past chair of the Winthrop Foundation and a former member of the Board of Visitors.
