Come-See-Me Festival Kicks Off With Variety of Winthrop Events

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The city of Rock Hill’s annual Come-See-Me Festival began more than 50 years ago as a way to increase a sense of community. The 10-day festival, held April 3-12, has several Winthrop University-related events, whether you want to cheer on the Eagles at a baseball game or bring your child to a Teddy Bear Tea Party.

Here is a list of those events:

Thursday, April 3
“Next Fall” Winthrop theatre production; 8 p.m.; Johnson Studio Theatre. Tickets are $5 with Winthrop ID; $10 general public.
Friday, April 4
•Winthrop women’s tennis vs. Marshall; 4 p.m.; Memorial Courts; Free
•Winthrop baseball vs. Radford; 6 p.m.; Winthrop Ballpark; Contact 323-2129 to purchase tickets or for ticket information.
•“Next Fall” Winthrop theatre production; 8 p.m.; Johnson Studio Theatre. Tickets are $8 with Winthrop ID; $15 general public.

Saturday, April 5
•Winthrop baseball vs. Radford; 3 p.m.; Winthrop Ballpark; Contact 323-2129 to purchase tickets or for ticket information.
•“Next Fall” Winthrop theatre production; 8 p.m.; Johnson Studio Theatre. Tickets are $8 with Winthrop ID; $15 general public.
•Winthrop Opera: The Pirates of Penzance; 8 p.m.; Byrnes Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for students with Winthrop ID; $10 for Winthrop faculty/staff; and $15 general public.

Sunday, April 6
•Winthrop lacrosse vs. Longwood; Noon; Winthrop Soccer/Lacrosse Field; Free

•Teddy Bear Tea Party; 3:30 p.m.; Winthrop University Campus Green: Children ages 3-6 are invited to the event. The entry fee is one gently used toy to donate. Reserve a spot online or call 803/323-4633.

Wednesday, April 9
•Winthrop softball vs. Gardner-Webb; 6 p.m. Terry Field; Free; Please contact 323-2129 for ticket information.

Thursday, April 10

Saturday, April 12
•Bring a Nerd to the Museum; 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; The Museum of York County; presented by Winthrop’s Chemistry Club, this event features chemistry-based demonstrations. Tickets may be purchased onsite. Museum admission is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for students and free for children under 3.
•Barbeque Cook-Off; 10 a.m. judging; 3 p.m. sales; Winthrop Lake
•Women’s tennis vs. Coastal Carolina; Memorial Courts; Free
•Tailgate Party; 3-10 p.m.; Winthrop Lake; live music begins at 4:30 p.m.
•Skydiving exhibition; 6:45 p.m.; Winthrop Lake
