ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Graduate School at Winthrop University and the Winthrop Alumni Association will host a drop-in reception honoring President Jayne Marie (Jamie) Comstock on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Carolina Room at the Ballantyne Hotel in Charlotte, N.C.

During the drop-in, Charlotte area alumni and friends will have the opportunity to meet Comstock and her husband, Larry Williamson.

Since Comstock assumed the presidency in July 2013, she and Williamson have embarked on the Onward. Upward. Winthrop Ever Stand. tour that has taken them to Greenville, Columbia and Charleston to meet with hundreds of alumni and friends of the university. The tour’s theme captures Comstock’s vision for Winthrop – a public institution on the rise, firmly grounded in excellence yet aspiring toward ever-greater achievement.

A visionary and inspirational leader, Comstock has charted a bold course for Winthrop’s future. Her extensive experience in academic leadership roles includes serving as chief academic officer at three universities and directing the Executive Leadership Group for the American Council on Education (ACE). Comstock’s national reputation in the area of higher education leadership positions her well to make a positive impact on college access, degree attainment, higher education affordability, and the perceived value of a college degree across the region.

In addition to meeting Comstock and Williamson, the event will also provide the opportunity for attendees to learn more about Winthrop’s more than 25 graduate degree offerings, admission criteria, financial assistance, including Winthrop’s in-state tuition rate for residents of South Carolina and 12 counties in North Carolina, and more.

To attend the event, please RSVP by Friday, Feb. 7, to Laura Little at littlel@winthrop.edu or call 800/578-6545.
