Seniors Crowned Homecoming King and Queen on Nov. 9

 Seniors DeShawn Clement of Greenville, S.C., and Daisy Burroughs of Columbia, S.C., were voted Homecoming King and Queen by their fellow students for Winthrop’s 2013 Homecoming held Nov. 4-10.
 They accepted their crowns during halftime of the men’s basketball game against Roanoke College.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – One of the Winthrop University’s Homecoming highlights was the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen during the men’s basketball game on Nov. 9.

Seniors DeShawn Clement of Greenville, S.C., and Daisy Burroughs of Columbia, S.C., were voted Homecoming King and Queen by their fellow students for Winthrop’s 2013 Homecoming held Nov. 4-10. They accepted their crowns during halftime of the men’s basketball game against Roanoke College.

Clement is a family and consumer sciences major, with a concentration in early intervention. A Close Scholar and Winthrop Ambassador, he is a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and is vice president of judicial affairs for Interfraternity Council, vice president of Order of Omega and vice chair of the Fraternal Conduct Board.

Burroughs is a mass communication major and business administration minor. She is the president of the Xi Beta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and is a peer mentor. She also has served her Winthrop community as a Winthrop Ambassador, Orientation Leader, resident assistant and president of the National Residence Hall Honorary, and is a member of multiple academic and occupational organizations.
