Nonprofit Management Certificate Program Now Accepting Applications

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Winthrop University’s Institute of Management will now accept registrations for the 2013-14 Nonprofit Management Certificate Program.

The nine-month program begins on Tuesday, Sept. 17 and is offered once a month through May 2014. Coursework will cover the fundamentals of operating a not-for-profit organization and includes: board management and governance, legal basics and operational accountability, accounting and finance, human resources management, program planning, business ethics and diversity, marketing and public relations, development and sustainability.

Space in the program is limited to the first 30 registrants, according to Page Bowden, director of external relations. Spaces are filling up quickly but there are still spaces available. Reservations are due by Sept. 1.

Successful participants in the program receive a certificate of completion from the Winthrop University Institute of Management. The course fee is significantly reduced through a grant funded by the J. Marion Sims Foundation, Chester Healthcare Foundation and the Sisters of Charity of South Carolina. Students pay $425 for the nine-month course with all materials included.
