Coyote Pair Sighted at Winthrop Lake Woods

 Winthrop officials are asking visitors to the Winthrop University Recreational and Research Complex to exercise caution after receiving a report of a pair of coyotes being spotted in the woods at the rear of the area.
 Winthrop has received a permit from the Department of Natural Resources to allow trapping of the animals to remove the potential threat from the area.
 Visitors are encouraged to take proper precautions while in the area until further notice.

Winthrop University officials are asking visitors to the Winthrop University Recreational and Research Complex, commonly known as The Farm or Winthrop Lake, to exercise caution after receiving a report of a pair of coyotes being spotted in the woods at the rear of the area.

Winthrop has received a permit from the Department of Natural Resources to allow trapping of the animals to remove the potential threat from the area.

Signs notifying visitors of the coyote sightings will be posted at the facility’s entrances on Eden Terrace and Myrtle Drive. Visitors are encouraged to take proper precautions while in the area until further notice.
