Spring One-Act Play Festival Gives Student Directors Center Stage

 Show times are 8 p.m. April 17 and 20 for Group A; 8 p.m. April April 19 and 2 p.m. April 21.

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Winthrop University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will introduce you to Greek gods, rude office supply store employees, a boy named Izzy who might be able to fly and more in the Spring One-Act Play Festival.

The festival’s 10 plays are all student-directed with student lighting and design. Russell Luke will oversee as director. The festival ties in with the city of Rock Hill’s annual Come-See-Me Festival.

The plays are divided into two groups of five. Group A performances are 8 p.m. April 17 and 20. Group B performs at 8 p.m. April 19 and 2 p.m. April 21. They are approved cultural events.

All tickets are general admission, and there is limited seating. Tickets are $5 with a Winthrop ID on April 17 and $8 to the general public. The remaining performances are $8 with a Winthrop ID and $15 to the public. Call the box office at 803/323-4014 or e-mail boxoffice@winthrop.edu.
