ROCK HILL, S.C. - Family and friends who can not attend Winthrop’s graduate or undergraduate commencement this week can view the ceremony from a computer.
The graduate commencement will take place at 7 p.m. on Dec. 18 at the Winthrop Coliseum. Normally, the ceremony is held in Byrnes Auditorium but it has been closed for the semester due to renovations.
The undergraduate commencement will begin at 11 a.m. Dec. 20 at the Coliseum. The university will present at that ceremony the Tillman Award to the student with the highest grade point average and the Kinard Award for teaching to marketing professor Jane Thomas.
There will be a link on the Winthrop homepage at www.winthrop.edu with the link to the video stream. There will also be instructions to download free Windows Media Player software in case your computer doesn’t have the software or its latest version.
The video stream will be activated 30 minutes before each ceremony. The graduate commencement event will last around an hour as a little more than 100 students will receive either a master’s or specialist degree. The undergraduate ceremony will take about an hour and a half as 340 seniors will receive their degrees.
An archive of the ceremony will be available on the Web in early January at http://www.winthrop.edu/recandreg/commencement/
