ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Energy Office at the S.C. State Budget & Control Board recently recognized Winthrop for achieving its energy reduction milestone goal for the 2020 plan.
Each state agency was challenged in 2009 to lessen its energy costs within 20 years, beginning back in 2000. As a leader in energy reduction, Winthrop reached its milestone in 2012.
To date, 14 state agencies have received awards for reaching their milestones.
Ashlie Lancaster, director of the S.C. Energy Office, presented Winthrop's award to Walter Hardin, associate vice president for facilities management, during the Tri-Association fall conference on Nov. 15 in Columbia, S.C.
