York County Choral Society Brings Holiday Cheer with Weekend Concert

ROCK HILL, S.C. —
The York County Choral Society
will ring in the holiday season the way it knows best — through song — in a special concert at Winthrop University this weekend.
The chorus will kick off its 32nd season with a presentation of
“In Dulci Jubilo! A Mosaic of Choral Masterworks and Contemporary Classics to Celebrate the Holiday Season.”
The concert will be Sunday, Dec. 9, at 4 p.m. in
Byrnes Auditorium
. It is a cultural event.
Professor Emeritus of Music David Lowry
and Winthrop graduate and organist
Shirley Fishburne
established the
York County Choral Society
in 1981. The two intended for the group to perform choral masterworks with the original accompaniments. Since then, the chorus has numbered more than 50 people and continues to bring in the crowds.
The chorus is under the leadership of
Associate Professor of Music Katherine Kinsey.
Tickets are free for Winthrop students with an ID, $5 for all students at the door, $15 for Winthrop faculty with ID and senior citizens 65 and older and $20 for generation admission. They can be purchased at the door or
