Runners of All Ages Descend on Winthrop to Race Dec. 1

 The lake area will be closed Saturday until 5 p.m. for 12 different races to take place for boys, girls and teen-age racers.
 This event is sponsored by the Rock Hill/York County Convention & Visitors Bureau with assistance from Head Cross Country Coach Ben Paxton and Associate Athletics Director of Facilities Dan Murray.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop University will host 1,500 runners Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Winthrop Lake for the National AAU Cross Country Meet.

The lake area will be closed Saturday until 5 p.m. for 12 different races to take place for boys, girls and teen-age racers. Registration will take place Friday, Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Winthrop Coliseum Concourse.

This event is sponsored by the Rock Hill/York County Convention & Visitors Bureau with assistance from Head Cross Country Coach Ben Paxton and Associate Athletics Director of Facilities Dan Murray.

Here is the race schedule:

National Anthem - 8:50 a.m.
Young Women & Intermediate Girls - 9 a.m.
Young Men & Intermediate Boys - 9:30 a.m.
Youth Girls - 10 a.m.
Youth Boys - 10:30 a.m.
Midget Girls - 11 a.m.
Midget Boys - 11:30 a.m.
Bantam Girls - noon
Bantam Boys - 12:30 p.m.
Primary Girls - 1 p.m.
Primary Boys - 1:30 p.m.
Peewee Girls - 2 p.m.
Peewee Boys - 2:15 p.m.
