ROCK HILL, S.C. — Are you ready to be “Livin’ La Vida Winthrop?” With this year’s theme, Winthrop University’s Homecoming and Alumni Reunion will be filled with spirited fun and games for the campus and surrounding community as well as returning alumni from Nov. 9-11.
Some activities include:
Friday, Nov. 9
Trolley Tours – See the campus while taking a pleasant trolley ride. Meets at Tillman Hall. Rides run from 1-5 p.m., with the last trolley leaving at 4:15 p.m.
Car Smash and Novelties – Come out and show your school spirit as we smash a car and create spirit gear such as posters and pennants to bring to the game on Saturday. Sponsored by the Student Homecoming Committee, Pi Kappa Phi and the DiGiorgio Student Union (DSU). President's Circle, 2:30-4:30 p.m.
Winthrop University Galleries Opening Reception – Featured work by textile artists Nava Lubelski and Libby O'Bryan. For more information, visit http://www.winthrop.edu/galleries. Patrick and Rutledge Galleries, 6:30-8 p.m.
Homecoming Party – Join students, alumni, faculty and staff for the main party of the weekend with a fiesta theme. Featuring live music performed by Miami's Xperimento, a photo booth, caricaturist Bruce Stevenson back by popular demand, photo koozies, free food, cash bar and unlimited fun. Sponsored by the Student Homecoming Committee and DSU. Rosalind and Jerry Richardson Ballroom in the DiGiorgio Campus Center, 9 p.m. Free.
Saturday, Nov. 10
Bike Ride with Frank Ardaiolo – Meet on the edge of the Campus Green for an easy-paced, one-hour bike ride with Vice President for Student Life Frank Ardaiolo. Enjoy Winthrop's beautiful campus and surrounding neighborhoods. No one gets left behind. 8:30-9:30 a.m.
Tailgating and Alumni Cookout – Bring a blanket or pitch your tailgating tent and enjoy music, food and fun before the basketball game. Stop by the alumni tent to enjoy hamburgers and hotdogs provided by the Winthrop Alumni Association. Head over to the Kid's Zone to find games, activities and inflatables provided by Baptist Collegiate Ministry. Don't forget to head in to cheer on the Eagles at 4 p.m. Coliseum Parking Lots, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Cookout is at 12:30 p.m. Pets must be leashed.
Men's Basketball – Cheer on the Winthrop Eagles as they take on the Knights of St. Andrews University. Homecoming Court winners will be announced at half-time. During the game, the winning Homecoming Banner will be announced. Don’t miss this season's opener with new Head Coach Pat Kelsey. Winthrop Coliseum, 4 p.m. For ticket information, call 803/323-2345.
NPHC Step Show – The annual Homecoming Step Show is a sell-out every year, so don't wait to get your tickets! Tickets are $7 in advance and $15 the day of the show. Sponsored by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs. Byrnes Auditorium; doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 11

Throughout the week students have even more events they can participate in, including the student talent show Nov. 7 at 8 p.m. in Tillman Auditorium; a pep rally featuring dancing and a taco-eating contest at 6 p.m. Nov. 8 in the DiGiorgio Campus Center; and Casino Night Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in the West Center.
