ROCK HILL, S.C. — Winthrop University’s 2012-13 Common Book, “Where Am I Wearing?” will be highlighted this semester with an appearance by the author and a benefit concert.
Author Kelsey Timmerman will make a brief appearance at Rockin' for Rocha, a benefit concert that will raise money for the project. Tickets are $2. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Tillman Auditorium. It is a cultural event.
On Oct. 3, Timmerman will speak about his book at 8 p.m. in Byrnes Auditorium. It is a free cultural event and open to the public.
“Where Am I Wearing?” follows Timmerman through garment factories in Cambodia and banana plantations in Costa Rica as he attempts to meet the workers who created his clothing. He shares the stories of the adventures he has along the way and the people he meets, hoping to humanize the issue of globalization.
Since its publication, Timmerman has traveled to campuses across the nation. His next book, “Where Am I Eating?” will be published next year.
