ROCK HILL, S.C. — Bring your shovels and gardening gloves — the Rock Hill Educational Community Garden Plant Day is set for this Saturday.

The garden, a collaboration between Winthrop University, the city of Rock Hill and Two Men and a Truck, is meant to teach people how to garden and to promote a healthier and more active lifestyle. Two master gardeners are often on hand to show participants how to garden on official plant days. Seeds and plants are provided by the city.

Students and several Winthrop groups, including the Vegetarian Society and Serving Others And Reflecting (SOAR), will help plant the garden Saturday at 9 a.m. Students have invited first-time participants from Ebenezer Elementary’s Leadership Academy, who will plant their plant Friday morning.

The garden, comprised of 13 plots, is located at 114 Ebenezer Avenue behind the Two Men and a Truck business. Students and the public are invited to participate in Saturday’s planting.

To set up a day to visit and work on the garden or for more information please contact Justine Knudson at 323-2141 or knudsonj@winthrop.edu.
