ROCK HILL, S.C. — Millions of Americans will cast their vote for the next U.S. president later this year, and the Louise Pettus Archives and Special Collections pays homage to that political passion with its newest exhibit.

A Sign of the Times: the Vernon Terry Political Signature and Memorabilia Collection offers documentation from some of the 44 men who have held the office of president. Memorabilia includes signatures from:

• 16th President Abraham Lincoln, famous for the Emancipation Proclamation and his Gettysburg Address
• Seventh president and South Carolina native Andrew Jackson
• Third President Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence
• President Grover Cleveland, the only one to serve two non-consecutive terms as the 22nd and 24th president

The collection also includes signatures from vice presidents and Confederate statesmen, photographs, campaign memorabilia, artifacts and more.

Terry, a York County resident, is an avid local historian. His wife Ann is a member of the Winthrop University Foundation Board. They have allowed Archives to display some of these treasures.

The exhibition will run through Sept. 14. Archives is open from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at 700 Cherry Road in Rock Hill.
