Dance Students Will Showcase Their Talents at Choreography Event

, spring means one thing: Advanced dance students are gearing up to show off their choreography skills at the spring
2012 Student Choreography Showcase
April 13-15.
Ten advanced dance students will choreograph works for the three-day showcase. These student choreographers are:
Michelle McMurray
(Inverness, Fla.);
Alicia Robson
(Summerville, S.C.);
Ashlea Sovetts
(Little River, S.C.);
Kaitlyn Conboy
(Smyrna, Del.);
Danielle Hausmann
(Wilmington, Del.);
Kirsten Stallings
(Floyds Knob, Ind.);
Ethan Goodman
(Easley, S.C.);
Victoria Eakins
(Gloverville, S.C.);
Danielle Brodie
(Summerville, S.C.); and
Karla Compton
(Hilton Head, S.C.) Stage manager is
Courtney Williams
of Sumter, S.C.
Twenty-seven student dancers will perform the pieces, which range in style from modern dance to jazz and ballet.
All students in a semester-long class, the choreographers are responsible for planning every aspect of their works, including designing costumes and coordinating lighting.
Adjunct Professor of Dance Stacy McConnell
will direct this year's showcase.
Student Choreography Showcase
performances will be held April 13-14 at 8 p.m. and April 14-15 at 2 p.m. in
Johnson Theatre
. Seating is reserved.
Tickets are $8 with Winthrop I.D. and $15 for the public. Tickets are available for purchase online or by contacting the box office at 803/323-4014 or
