Out of Bounds Ensemble Will Present Two Concerts in April

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Out of Bounds Ensemble, the co-resident new music ensemble at Winthrop and Central Piedmont Community College, will present two concerts in April.

The first will be on Sunday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Barnes Recital Hall at Winthrop, and the second on Saturday, April 21 at 4 p.m. in Tate Hall as one of CPCC’s Sensoria program.

The Out of Bounds Ensemble is the first and only professional chamber music ensemble in the Charlotte area that specializes in music written during the 20th and 21st century. The ensemble’s members consist of professional musicians from the greater Charlotte area.

The program includes Christopher Stark’s “Archipel” for oboe, violin, and cello, Leonard Mark Lewis’s 3 Songs, Bruce A. Thompson’s “Seven Epitaphs” for voice, horn, cello, and piano, and Dimitri Shostakovich’s Piano Trio no. 2. Leonard Mark Lewis is on the faculty of the Music Department at Winthrop University and Bruce A. Thompson is a professor emeritus of music at Winthrop University.

Performers include Brendon Bushman (oboe), Tomoko Deguchi (piano), Gina Gutierrez (soprano), Tatiana Karpova (violin), Nick Lampo (cello), Mark Lewis (piano), and Bill Tyler (horn).
