Educational Partnership at Winthrop to Honor Educational Luminaries

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Institute for Educational Renewal and Partnership at Winthrop, first established in 2010, will be named The James and Susan Rex Institute for Educational Renewal and Partnership.

The newly named institute honors Jim Rex, former dean of education at Winthrop University as well as the former State Superintendent of Education for South Carolina, and Sue Smith-Rex, retired Winthrop University College of Education faculty and a member of the Winthrop University Board of Trustees.

Drs. Rex have spent their careers promoting and supporting education, and the newly named James and Susan Rex Institute for Educational Renewal and Partnership honors their investment in education, most recently with a generous gift to support students, faculty, and new initiatives in the Richard W. Riley College of Education at Winthrop.

The James and Susan Rex Institute for Educational Renewal and Partnership is a service-oriented organization within Winthrop‘s Richard W. Riley College of Education which serves, facilitates, and supports faculty and College of Education initiatives that involve internal and external collaboration, partnership, and outreach.
