Floyd, a native of Chester, S.C., and a graduate of the S.C. Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics, majored in psychology and biology at Winthrop, where she was an honor graduate. She also worked as a research assistant during her studies at Winthrop. The Hannah Ruth Floyd Endowed Scholarship, established by Floyd’s family, celebrates her experience.

The scholarship provides funds for students majoring in psychology and/or biology, with first preference given to female students from Chester County, S.C., and secondary preference to female students from York County, S.C., Lancaster County, S.C., Union County, S.C., or Fairfield County, S.C. Additional preference will be given to students who have played at least two seasons of Dixie Girls Softball, with additional preference offered if students were selected as All-Stars.
