Parent Gifts, Donor Numbers Increase in 2011

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Last year proved to be a banner year for the
Winthrop Fund
, showing a significant increase in parent gifts and an overall increase in donors.
Parent giving rose substantially in 2011, with a 246% increase in the total gifts from parents as compared to 2010. The number of parent donors providing gifts to the
Winthrop University Foundation
also increased by more than 50%.
The
Winthrop Fund
serves as a critical revenue stream for student scholarships,
Winthrop’s Alumni Association
, faculty awards and additional university initiatives. Gifts to the
Winthrop Fund
are unrestricted and allow Winthrop to provide crucial support for key campus priorities and the present needs of the Winthrop community. In 2011, unrestricted gifts totaled $468,722.
