Campus Center Room Named for Carlos Evans and Lisa Hudson Evans ’75

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Winthrop has honored the philanthropy of Carlos E. Evans and his wife, Lisa Hudson Evans ’75, with the dedication of a signature space in the couple’s honor.

At a special ceremony Dec. 7, President Anthony DiGiorgio unveiled a plaque designating a major meeting and dining room located on the third floor of the DiGiorgio Campus Center as the Lisa Hudson Evans and Carlos E. Evans Room. He also presented a formal portrait of the couple, which will remain on display in the room.

DiGiorgio commended Carlos, who is stepping down as chair of the Winthrop University Real Estate Foundation and Winthrop Foundation boards, and Lisa for their generosity and service to the university.

“Carlos and Lisa have created a powerful legacy of leadership and philanthropy,” said DiGiorgio. “It has been a true pleasure working with two people who are so committed to serving and bettering the Winthrop community.”

Carlos Evans currently serves as co-chair of Distinction: The Campaign for Winthrop, Winthrop’s second-ever major fundraising campaign. He is an executive vice president and group head of the Eastern division of Wells Fargo Commercial Banking based in Charlotte, N.C. In addition, Evans serves on the Wells Fargo Management Committee. He has more than 35 years of financial services experience.

Carlos and Lisa Evans established the Lisa Hudson Evans Endowed Scholarship – awarded to political science majors – to honor Lisa’s legacy as a Winthrop alumna during Winthrop's first campaign and they have made additional commitments to that endowment as part of this campaign. The couple lives in Charlotte, N.C.
