ROCK HILL, S.C. – Choreographed works by Winthrop faculty, students and alumnae will display an array of innovative dance styles during the Nov. 2-6 Winthrop Dance Theatre concert.

The theme for this year’s concert is “International Biographies” to highlight the university’s five-year Global Learning Initiative. According to Mary Beth Young, the dance theatre director and associate professor of theatre and dance, each of the six choreographers chose a person or persons who have made an historical, cultural or global impact on humanity.

“This is one of the most exciting dance concerts ever presented in the Department of Theatre and Dance,” said Young. “Original music compositions as well as numerous video and photo enhancements are utilized with original costume and lighting designs. Live accompaniment is also used with faculty and student musicians from the Department of Music.”

Performances will be held in Johnson Theatre at 8 p.m. Nov. 2-5 and at 2 p.m. on Nov. 6. Tickets are $8 with a Winthrop ID and $15 for the general public.
