ROCK HILL, S.C. - Two new funds will provide scholarship support for Winthrop students from Union County, S.C. First preference will be given to a student majoring in elementary or early education, and second preference will be given to a student majoring in sociology.

The Mary Inez Hall Arrowood 1933 and Robert H. Arrowood Endowed Scholarship and the Mary Inez Hall Arrowood 1933 and Robert H. Arrowood Annual Restricted Scholarship were established recently by their children Frances Arrowood Swan, Class of 1961; Robert H. Arrowood Jr.; and Mary Ann Arrowood Whitley, Class of 1970, and her husband Alton.

The scholarships are intended to also honor the Arrowood family’s roots in Union County.

The annual restricted scholarship fund will provide students with scholarships until the endowed scholarship reaches Winthrop’s established endowment minimum. The endowed scholarship will then provide financial support in perpetuity.
