ROCK HILL, S.C. - Dongping Han, professor of political science at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, N.C., will give a lecture titled "Responding to the Environmental Challenges of a Globalized World" on March 24 at Winthrop.
Han, the author of "The Unknown Cultural Revolution: Life and Change in a Chinese Village," will speak at 8:30 p.m. in Kinard Auditorium. A Q&A session will follow his presentation.
To his discussion of global economic challenges and changes, Han brings the board background of a scholar who received his Ph.D. in the United States at Brandeis University, but who grew up in rural China during the Cultural Revolution and returned there to do research for his dissertation and book "The Unknown Cultural Revolution."
The March 24 lecture is an approved cultural event for Winthrop students. Sponsoring the lecture are the departments of political science and history; Pi Sigma Alpha (the political science honor society); the Student Environmental Action Coalition; and the Socialist Student Union.
