Comporium and Winthrop Hold Photography Contest for Phone Directory

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Comporium Communications and Winthrop University invite Winthrop students, alumni, faculty and staff to send in their best photographs for the Comporium York County Directory cover photography contest.

The goal is to capture images that celebrate Winthrop’s 125th anniversary and its important role in the community. A variety of themes and perspectives is encouraged.

The grand prize recipient will receive an iPad and possibly the honor of having the winning photograph printed as cover artwork for the 2011-12 phone directory. The directory will be distributed to more than 100,000 households and businesses across York County.

Other winning entries selected by a panel of judges will be featured in a special section in the directory. Second place will receive $250 and third place $100.

All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. Monday, March 21. For more information, contact the Office of University Relations at 803/323-2236.

Here are the rules:

1. Eligibility: The Comporium York County Directory cover photography contest is open to any Winthrop students, alumni, faculty and staff.
2. All work must be done completely by the participant. All work should be original.
3. Up to three entries are allowed per participant.
4. The artwork themes should be inspired by the Winthrop University campus and community.
5. The entry must be created by the person submitting the entry and must have been created within the last 12 months.
6. Entries should be “anonymous” for judging purposes and exclude identification on the image itself.
7. Color and black and white photographs are permitted.
8. The size specification of the original photograph should be approximately 9’’ X 9 ½ ‘’ at least 200 dpi, 300 dpi preferably. Please do not crop.
9. Place all images on a CD and turn into University Relations, located at 200 Tillman, no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, March 21. Please attach your first and last name, contact information and mark Comporium Directory Photography Contest on the CD.
