Four Orientation Sessions Planned for June

 All freshmen entering in the fall are required to attend one of four two-day Orientation sessions offered in June.
 Session I is from June 14-15, Session II from June 17-18, Session III from June 21-22 and Session IV from June 24-25.
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Winthrop University will welcome incoming freshmen during four Orientation sessions this summer.

All freshmen entering in the fall are required to attend one of four two-day Orientation sessions offered in June. Family members are encouraged to take advantage of Family Orientation, a program offered concurrently with the first day of each of the student sessions.

Session I is from June 14-15, Session II from June 17-18, Session III from June 21-22 and Session IV from June 24-25.

Orientation is a program designed to assist new students and their families in adjusting to life as a student at Winthrop University. During Orientation, new students meet current student leaders, receive information on academic expectations and opportunities for involvement, are advised, and register for classes.  In addition, students will be bringing canned goods to support CROP Walk, Second Harvest Food Bank, Children’s Attention Home and the York County Council on Aging.

Organizer Kema Gadson, program director for new student and parent programs, and the student orientation staff have designed programs and activities to engage students in discussions about the 2010 Common Book, “Make the Impossible Possible” by Bill Strickland. The incoming freshmen also will interact with upperclassmen, Orientation faculty mentors, first class instructors, key campus personnel and each other to build a web of support for their Winthrop experience.

“The Orientation leaders are fired up and ready to welcome the new freshman class to the Winthrop family,” Gadson said.

Transfer students entering Winthrop in the fall may take advantage of Transfer Orientations in July.
