ROCK HILL, S.C. - Winthrop University will host the Peace History Society conference Nov. 3-5.
Founded in 1964 after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the group aims to broaden the understanding of, and possibilities of, world peace. The conference convenes every two years and will focus this year on "Peace Activism and Scholarship: Historical Perspectives of Social, Economic and Political Change."
This is the first time Winthrop has hosted the conference, which will be attended by 100 people from the United States and other nations. Several Winthrop faculty members will present papers.
Conference coordinators are Lynne Dunn and Ginger Williams. For more information, contact Williams at 803/323-4680.
