Majors and More

Our Business Administration programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB-International), the premier accrediting agency for business school programs. Less than one-third of U.S. business school programs and less than 5% of programs worldwide hold this accreditation. AACSB-International accreditation assures quality and promotes excellence and continuous improvement.

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

Students may choose from ten options within the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration:

 

 

Business Administration Minor

The minor in business administration consists of 18 hours of the following:

  • BADM 180 (3) Contemporary Business Issues
     
  • ACCT 280 (3) Accounting Information for Business Decisions I [MATH 151 (3) Applied College Algebra is a pre-requisite]
     
 Two of the following:
  • MGMT 321 (3) Principles of Management
     
  • MKTG 380 (3) Principles of Marketing
     
  • FINC 311 (3) Principles of Finance
     

Two of the following, one of which must be above 299:

  • ACCT 281 (3) Accounting Information for Business Decisions II
     
  • CSCI 207 (4) Introduction to Computer Science
     
  • ECON 215 (3) Principles of Microeconomics
     
  • ECON 216 (3) Principles of Macroeconomics
     
  • HCMT 200 (3) Introduction to Health Care Management
     
  • QMTH 205 (3) Applied Statistics I
     
  •  Any course above 299 in ACCT, BADM, ECON, ENTR, FINC, HCMT, MGMT, or MKTG.
     

Proficiency in computer applications equivalent to the level required for the successful completion of

  • CSCI 101 (1.5) Introduction to Computers and Information Processing
  • CSCI 101 B (.5) Using Microsoft Excel
     

and two from

  • CSCI 101 A (.5) Using Microsoft Windows, Frontpage, and Powerpoint
  • CSCI 101 C (.5) Using Microsoft Access
  • CSCI 101 F (.5) Learning Adobe Photoshop
  • CSCI 101 I (.5) Learning Adobe Illustrator 
  • CSCI 101 P (.5) Introduction to C++ Programming
     

Professional Business Minor

The professional business minor prepares a student to enter many graduate business programs (including the Winthrop MBA program) upon undergraduate degree completion.  A Winthrop undergraduate student who selects this minor will be able to complete the Winthrop MBA Program in four semesters (including summers).

The professional business minor consists of 21 - 24 hours as follows:

  • ACCT 280 (3) Accounting Information for Business Decisions I [MATH 151 (3) Applied College Algebra is a pre-requisite]
     
  • ACCT 281 (3) Accounting Information for Business Decisions II
     
  • ECON 215 (3) Principles of Microeconomics
     
  • ECON 216 (3) Principles of Macroeconomics
     
  • FINC 311 (3) Principles of Finance
     
  • MGMT 321 (3) Principles of Management
     
  • MKTG 380 (3) Principles of Marketing
     
  • QMTH 205 (3) Applied Statistics I (A statistics course from your major may substitute). [MATH 151 (3) Applied College Algebra is a pre-requisite]
     

Computer proficiency is required. A minimum grade of C- is required in each course.

 

Master of Business Administration

Graduate students can pursue a general MBA degree, or select a concentration.
