Pat MacEnulty has a
Ph. D. in English from Florida State University where she was the
recipient of a 1994 Dissertation Fellowship and a 1993 Kingsbury Writing
Fellowship. Her poems, stories, articles, and memoirs have appeared in
numerous publications, including Apalachee Quarterly, California
Quarterly, Green Hills Literary Lantern, Gulfstream Review, Snake Nation
Review, The Sun-Sentinel Newspaper, and others. She has work in recent
issues of Onionhead and Poetry Motel. She is former editor
of Sun Dog: The Southeast Review. Pat has now published three
novels. Pat lives and writes in
Charlotte, NC and serves as an adjunct professor at Central Piedmont and
at Winthrop University. |

Sara is currently a
second year masters student at UNCG and has been teaching ballet and pointe
at "OnStage School of Dance", a local dance studio for the last year. For
the last five summers she has benn the head of dance at the Lincoln
Amphitheatre located just outside of Evansville, Indiana where she
performed, choreographed, and taught ballet and modern classes. |

Tomoko Deguchi

Tomoko Deguchi (b.Nishinomiya, Japan) started
piano lessons at age seven in New York City. She received
Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education from Kobe
University. Ms. Deguchi began a performing career while in Japan, focusing
on contemporary music. She has been a featured performer and solo
performer at numerous concerts including the 20th Century Piano
Music series, the Young Artist Concert series, Kobe Art Conference
Competition concert, S.U.N.Y. at Potsdam, Northern Illinois University,
and the Buffalo Contemporary Ensemble Concert series. In 1995, Ms. Deguchi
moved to the United States to study piano with Dr. Gary Smart at the Univ.
of Wyoming, where she received an M. A. in Music Theory and was the
winner of the 1998 Concerto Competition . She has recorded her first solo
piano album “Syncopated Lady,” featuring works of members of the
American Composers Forum, which was released in June 1999 from Capstone
Records. Ms. Deguchi is in the final stages of completing a Ph.D. in Music Theory at the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Tomoko is married to Ron Parks, and thus, has now joined him on the Winthrop faculty. |

L. H.
Dickert

L. H. Dickert is an Associate Professor at Winthrop
University who teaches guitar, jazz history, theory, and directs guitar
ensembles and jazz combos and the Winthrop pep band. L. H. holds the B.M.
degree from Winthrop University, a diploma from the Berklee College of
Music, an M.M. degree from Wichita State University, and a Ph.D. from the
University of Memphis. He is active both regionally and nationally as a
performer, guest artist, and clinician. Performing credits include work with
such notable artists as Natalie Cole, Lou Rawls, Charlie Rouse, the
Diamonds, Ronnie Milsap, Dixie Carter, Ray Charles, Johnny Mathis, the Guy
Lombardo Orchestra, Randy Brecker, Frank Sinatra, and Wayne Newton. Dr.
Dickert also is in demand regionally as a musical arranger and clinician. |

A native of Quezon
City, Philippines, Rafael (Ming) received undergraduate degrees in music
education and vocal performance from the Univ. of Santo Tomas in Manila.
He earned his Master's in Vocal Performance from Winthrop and is
currently pursuing a Doctorate in Vocal Performance at the Univ. of South
Carolina. He has performed a variety of opera roles in the
Philllipines and the United States and has sung with the Philippine
Philharmonic Orchestra. His roles include Dulcamara in L'Elisir
d'Amore, Guglielmo in Cosi fan Tutte, Marcello in La Boheme,
and Malatesta in Don Pasquale. He was a regional fnalist in
the Metropolitan Opera Auditions. |

Dawn

Dawn McCord
was visiting assistant professor at the University of Southern Illinois
this past year. She has just accepted a new position at West Georgia
State College where she begins this fall. Dawn received her undergraduate degree from Florida State
University, her M.M. in Choral Conducting from Louisiana State University,
and her doctorate in Music Education/choral conducting from the University
of Georgia. She has been an active choir director and organist for
years. Dawn taught in the public schools of Louisiana, Georgia, and
Florida and received numerous awards for her activities. From 1991-
1999 she was on the faculty of Brenau University where she taught music education,
conducted the chorus, and supervised student teachers as well as serving
as one of the co-directors of the Firespark! program there. |

Jack
Murray

Jack Murray is in
much demand as a woodwind player, playing saxophone, clarinet, flute, and
oboe in Broadway shows, symphony orchestras, jazz bands, rock bands, and
recording work. Jack has
toured with such groups as the Four Tops and The Temptations and has
appeared with numerous artists including Natalie Cole, Ray Charles, Tony
Bennett, Kenny Rogers, Barry Manilow, Manhattan Transfer, Slide Hampton,
and John Pizzarelli. In
addition to his live performances Jack has been featured on various
recordings and television shows. He
performed with Duke Ellington’s “Sophisticated Ladies” 1999/2000
European Tour with Dee Dee Bridgewater and Freda Payne.
Most recently Jack was seen performing
Chicago
with Gregory Harrison, The Full Monty, South Pacific
with Robert Goulet, Kiss Me Kate
with Rex Smith and Rachel York, and Damn
Yankees with Jerry Lewis. Jack
was named “Most Outstanding Saxophone Performer” at the Mobile Jazz
Festival in 1994. Jack Murray

Josh
Walker
African Music

|
Josh Walker
is a freelance musician living in Rock Hill. He received his bachelor's
and master's degrees from Winthrop University in 1998 and 2001,
respectively, and has taught in York, Mecklenburg, Chester, Lancaster, and
Kershaw Counties. He is currently a percussion instructor at Gold Hill,
Fort Mill, and Lugoff-Elgin Middle Schools and maintains a percussion
studio of 8-12 students. He also accompanies the dance department on
percussion at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and performs
occasionally with the Charlotte and Charleston Symphonies. He has
performed on djembe and djun djun with Michael Williams and Mohammad da
Costa, and has studied music from Zimbabwe, Guinea, and Ghana as a member
of Winthrop's percussion ensemble. |

Annamarie
Gatto is a freelance artist, designer and actress with over 20 years
experience as a performer in theatre and film. She has been very active on
the indie film circuit this year with two leading film roles to her credit
so far -the dramatic short Masking Tape for Gurgitano Films/Group
101 and the futuristic Final Archive for Shadowdog Films.
This fall she will be starring in Gadlock Films dark thriller Ink
and Hashberry Films comedy/drama Naked Nerve Endings. She is happy
to be back at Kaleidoscope for her third year. |

Currie
is originally from
Philadelphia,
but headed south to North Carolina and never looked back. She received her
BA in Theatre Costuming from UNC-Greensboro in 1983, spent a few years
working locally, then headed out to work for Ballet Mississippi in Jackson
in the winter and for Seaside Music Theatre in
Daytona Beach,
FL in the summer. She arrived at
Florida State University in
1988, where she remains to this day. Currie serves as the costumer for the
FSU Dance Department. Currie joined Kaleidoscope last year as a dorm
parent. This year, in addition to her duties in the dorm, she will teach
costume design and a unique course called Creating with Cloth. |

Oscar Soto is
graduating with a BFA from Winthrop this year. His current work
combines the use of writing and paint as a personal approach to
understanding the silent activity beneath words and image. His work
has been exhibited at Winthrop, in various Rock Hill galleries, and in
galleries in Charlotte, NC. Oscar is the winner of a Winthrop
University Art Department Senior Award and his work is in the collections of
the Winthrop University Galleries and the School of Visual and Performing
Arts. |

Michele, 25, is from the
Rock Hill area. She received a BFA concentrated in Photography from
Winthrop University in 2004. While studying at Winthrop, Michele won awards
with photographic works in the 2003 and 2004 Undergraduate Exhibitions. Her
work has been seen in numerous Rock Hill, SC, and Charlotte, NC, Galleries.
