Equipment Checkout Policy

Forms 

•Equipment will be checked out to Winthrop-affiliated patrons only; patron must present valid Winthrop ID or see Director for approval. 

•Patrons should reserve equipment in advance; and should plan accordingly as app installation for class, or instructional use is the responsibility
  of the patron. (App installation will require patrons to
 use their Apple ID and iTunes account)

•Loan period is 7 days for faculty and 72 hours for students, unless approved by the Director. No check-out is allowed over the weekend for students.

•There are no renewals. Equipment must be returned and checked-out again.

•All devices are restored to factory settings upon return to ensure personal data is not stored on the device.

•Students may check out a maximum of 10 devices at a time, faculty is limited only by the number of available devices.

•Faculty, Staff, Students and Interns may check out equipment for use in course work or for use in university professional purposes.

•Questions about the devices should be directed to itc@winthrop.edu.

FEE POLICY:

•Overdue fines for equipment check-out are $5.00 per day with no grace period.

•An overdue notice will be sent at the time the equipment is overdue.

•A pre-billing notice will be sent 7 days after the initial notice.

•Fees will be billed to a patron’s account 10 days after the initial overdue notice.

•Equipment is checked for damages before checkout to patron and upon return. If damage is found upon return (e.g. scratched or cracked screen), 
 the patron will be charged the cost to repair the item.

•Each item in the data base has a replacement cost equal to its original cost that will be billed to patrons with lost, severely damaged or non-returned items.
 Generally, replacement costs for the device(s) are:

  • iPad - $500 + $10.00 processing fee
  • Laptop – no less than $1000 +$10.00 processing fee
  • Chromebook - $250 + $10.00 processing fee

Faculty and Student Interns

  1. PC laptops, i-books, digital cameras, and digital camcorders are available for interns and faculty to check-out. College of Education faculty and interns will get preference over non-College of Education faculty.
  2. Faculty and Student interns can check out all equipment for a maximum of 7 days.

For Interns Only

**ITC MOBILE DEVICE INTERNET USE POLICY: You must check with your school IT person before you try to get our device to go online. They are not configured to go through a firewall and are open to ALL content on the Internet. These settings will need to be reconfigured at your school to comply your K-12 school's acceptable use policies. This is a very serious issue and should not be overlooked. We advise that you use the devices for non-internet related applications.
