Winthrop University designed its study abroad program to work for almost every student.  No matter what your major, there is a long term, short term, or summer program that will work within your 4 year graduation plan.  Winthrop also offers study abroad program for virtually all budgets.  Many of our programs cost the same as Winthrop Tuition Room and Board.  There also is a program in place to allow scholarships and financial aid to transfer with the student.

Typically, students study abroad during their sophomore or junior years.  Freshmen are not allowed to participate in semester long study abroad programs but can go on short term programs.  We also do not encourage students to study abroad in the semester before they graduate due to the time it takes for transcript processing.

If you have any questions about study abroad and the study abroad process please call the International Center at 803.323.2133 to schedule an appointment with one of our Study Abroad Advisors and Peer Councilors.  You can also contact us by emailing studyabroad@winthrop.edu
