Our Students Say it Best!

Catherina Sampedro, Brazil
Class of 2012, BA in Economics

"I choose to study for my degree at Winthrop University because I had a feeling that this was the place that I should be and here I would learn how to be a better person and a better professional. When I came to visit Winthrop, I loved it right way; the campus is beautiful, people are really nice and there is always someone willing to help."

"I would encourage future international students to come and study at Winthrop because the people here are very nice especially the staff responsible for the International Center, they help us with whatever we need. Throughout the first few months I did not feel home sick aminly because I met so many great people that I now consider to me my new family. All the professors are always there to help, they were even there to help me with my language issues when I first arrived. I can definitely say that this is my second home."

Enitan "Tobi" Ogunkoya, Nigeria
Class of 2010, BS in Business Administration, concentration in Marketing

"I choose to study at Winthrop University because it is just big enough for me to experience the U.S. and small enough to build life long friendships Professors and staff here know you by name and encourage you to develop long term relationships with them. They want you to succeed, just as a parent would!"

"I would encourage future international students to come to Winthrop because no matter who you are or where you are from: there is something here for you! Whether it is a major, a hobby, or just the social life. There is somewhere you fit in, here at Winthrop. Give it a few weeks and Winthrop will become your home away from home."

Difei Zhou, China
Class of 2010, BS in Business Administration, concentration in Accounting

"I choose to study at Winthrop because of its high academic reputation in the area of accounting. Winthrop is one of a couple of schools in the area that offers students the opportunity to take the CPA exam, which to me was a great advantage. Also, the school is ideally located close to the Charlotte business district. I feel that this makes it easier for me to find employment upon graduation."

"I would encourage future international students to come and study at Winthrop mainly because of the many majors that Winthrop offers. The university also offers many career development opportunities, which to me was important. I would alos like to say that students and faculty on the campus are friendly and always helpful. The campus is beautiful, quiet, and safe and the surrounding community is terrific."

Cong Wang, China
Class of 2011, MBA, concentration in Software Project Management

"I would encourage all future international students to come and study at Winthrop because it is here where you can realize how productive a small class can be."

Cameron Alksnis, Canada
Class of 2010, BS in Business Administration, concentration in Finance

"I chose to study at Winthrop University mainly because of the NCAA Division 1 athletic program that Winthrop is a part of. As a student athlete I am able to compete at a very high and competitive level while at the same time working toward completing a degree. Winthrop's campus and athletic facilities are very beautiful and as well as being well maintained. It makes it a great place to be!"
