Title IX - Training Program
All reporting officials (faculty, administrators, supervisors, student life personnel, athletics personnel, and campus police) have a particular responsibility for reporting sexual harassment/assault and discrimination of employees and students. To ensure that all reports of harassment and discrimination investigated according to Winthrop’s policies, the Office of Human Resources has developed the following schedule for educating the campus community going forward:
- New Staff (permanent): Training will be provided during new hire orientation with the Office of Human Resources.
- New Temporary* Employees: The immediate supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that the new temporary employee completes the online training within the first 30 days of employment.
- New Faculty: Training will be provided during new hire orientation with the Office of Human Resources.
- Everyone: After the initial training as a new employee, all employees will be required to complete the online training again at least once every four years.
*Temporary employees are not required to attend new hire orientation; therefore, hiring supervisors are required to ensure that the temporary employee completes the online training as soon as possible after the employment start date, but certainly within 30 days of the employment start date.
In addition to online training, the Office of Human Resources and the Division of Student Life offer classroom style Harassment and Discrimination training twice each year through the TLC; once during the fall semester and again in the spring semester (additional trainings may be offered throughout the year based on demand). All employees are welcome and encouraged to attend the classroom style training. Employees who attend the classroom style will not be required to also complete the online training. Faculty and staff who work closely with students are particularly encouraged to attend the classroom style training.
