Application Guidelines
Only officially registered clubs and organizations or university representative groups of Winthrop University may submit candidates they wish to sponsor as their choice for Homecoming King and Queen.
Organizations may only sponsor one King and one Queen candidate.
Any full-time Winthrop University male student is eligible as a candidate for Homecoming King. Any full-time Winthrop University female student is eligible as a candidate for Homecoming Queen.
Candidates must be in good academic and judicial standing with the university.
Candidates must be a sophomore, junior or senior by Winthrop classification.
Candidates must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA (Winthrop University hours only)
All applications for Homecoming King and Queen are due on or before Monday, February 4 at 5 p.m. in Room 218 Dinkins Student Center.
Applications consist of a typed application, typed responses to short answer questions and resume.
A panel of judges will review applications on Friday, February 15.
Candidates selected for interviews will be posted on the Homecoming webpage by Monday, February 18.
If selected, candidates will participate in an interview on Friday, February 22.
Candidates selected for an interview will need to come to 218 Dinkins beginning February 18 to sign-up for a 15 minute interview slot for Friday, February 22.
Selected candidates are expected to report on time and be dressed appropriately for their interview. Interviews will be in Dinkins rooms 230A or B.
A court of three (3) men and three (3) women will be selected from the interviews.
All candidates interviewed will be presented at the end of the women’s game on Wednesday, February 27, and the court of three (3) men and three (3) women will be announced.
The announcement of the King & Queen will be done at the men's basketball game on Saturday, March 1.
