Examination Program (CLEP)

Information
Computer-based
CLEP examinations are administered at Winthrop University through Counseling
Services, which is located on the second floor of the Crawford
Building. Candidates may take computer-based CLEP exams by
appointment and will receive scores
at the end of the tests.
CLEP fees are $70 per exam. An
additional $25
per exam registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferableª. CLEP information is
available online at www.collegeboard.com.

Appointment Times
Computer-based
CLEP examinations are offered by appointment only.
Please note that appointments are not available during midterm and
final exam dates.
How to Register

To register in person: Come to 205 Crawford Building to
pay the $25 registration fee (payable by check or money
order to Winthrop University) and schedule the date and time you want to
take the exam.
The $70 test fee is payable by credit card, check, or money order
payable to CLEP
when you take the exam.

To register by mail: Print and complete the
CLEP registration form
and mail along with the $25 registration
fee (payable by check or money
order to Winthrop University) to Counseling Services-CLEP, 205 Crawford
Building, Winthrop University, Rock Hill, SC 29733.
Next, call us at (803) 323-2233 to schedule an appointment time.
Because appointments will
not be scheduled until your registration fee has been received, please
allow sufficient time for mail delivery prior to calling.
The $70 test fee can be paid
by credit card, check, or money order payable
to CLEP at the time of the exam.
Where
to Report on Test Day
Report
to 205 Crawford at the time for which you registered.
You must provide two forms of identification, including one
photo, to be admitted.
If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you will not
be allowed to take the exam and you will forfeit your
registration fee.
You may reschedule your appointment
upon payment of an additional registration fee.
VISITOR REGISTRATION:
Visitors parking on University property must have a
'Visitor Parking' permit. You must go to the Campus
Police Department to obtain the parking permit. Visitor vehicle registration is
free for
up to 24 hours.
Visitor parking spaces can be viewed on the campus map.
NOTE: Please allow
for time to find parking.
Winthrop
University Course-Equivalent Credit

Please note that Winthrop University does not administer or require the
separate CLEP essay examinations. Also,
Winthrop University does not accept the General Examinations for exemption credit.
Candidates seeking course-equivalent credit from Winthrop University must
request that score reports be sent to Winthrop University.
Winthrop University uses the American Council on Education
(ACE) score on the examinee’s official score report to determine
whether credit is awarded. ACE
scores may change without notice.
