Test Center Guidelines
-
Communicate clearly with the Test Center and your professor about
test dates and times.
-
Arrive at the Test Center on time. If you are late,
you will forfeit part of your test time and we will notify your
professor.
-
No hats, coats, purses, backpacks, cell phones,
pagers, or iPods are allowed in the Test Center cubicles. No food or drink
except water unless it is part of your accommodation.
-
No
notes, books, dictionaries, or calculators
are
allowed in the Test Center cubicles unless specified by your Test Center
Proctor Form.
-
Only if
your accommodations include a computer may the computer be on while you are
taking your test.
If you do use computer
accommodations, you may not surf the Internet or check e-mail during
your test. If you do, we will take your test and notify your
professor.
Test Center Proctor Forms
- The
Test Center Proctor Forms include all the specific and necessary
instructions on how to administer your exams.
-
You will receive one
Proctor Form for each class in which you have test accommodations.
-
You are expected to complete your Proctor Forms with your professors, and you are expected to return the forms to the
Test Center before scheduling your first test.
-
You will not be admitted
to the Test Center if you have not submitted your Proctor Form.
Scheduling My
Tests
-
Schedule your test for the same day and at the
same time that your professor gives it in class.
-
Schedule each test at
least 5 days in advance. You may call or e-mail the Test Center.
-
When trying to reach the
Test Center, call Services for Students with Disabilities at 323-3290 and
ask for the Test Center or select option #2 from voicemail. The phone does
not ring in the Test Center so as not to disturb test takers. Your call
will go straight to voicemail. Please leave a detailed message and the Test
Center staff will return your call.
-
Test Center hours are 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., M-F.
Plan carefully. You will not be allowed to return to complete an
unfinished test at a later time if you leave to go to class or work. Test
Center staff will not excuse you from class so that you can complete a test.
Scheduling
Exceptions
1. My
class begins at 8:00 a.m. before the Test Center opens.
Talk with
your professor about starting your test at 8:30 a.m. If you also have a 9:00
a.m. class, see scheduling exception #4 below for suggestions on back-to-back
classes.
2. My
class is at night when the Test Center is closed.
Talk with
your professor about the Test Center hours and the following possibilities:
(1)
Take the test earlier that same afternoon
(2)
Take the test later, such as first thing the next morning.
3. My
class is at 3:30 p.m. and the Test Center closes during my allotted amount of
test time.
Talk with
your professor about beginning your test earlier in the day so that you complete
your test before the Test Center closes at 4:30 p.m.
4. My
classes are back-to-back, and I use extended time.
Two
classes back-to-back (ex: a 9:00 a.m. class and a 10:00 a.m. class)
- Talk
with your professor about starting tests in your first class early so that
you will be done before your second class begins.
Three
or more classes back-to-back (ex: 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. classes)
- Talk
with your professor about starting tests in your first class early. You
will have to plan with your professor to take tests in your second class at
a different time during that same day in order not to miss your third class.
5. My
professor can provide my test accommodations.
- If
your professor offers to provide your test accommodations, you may make test
arrangements with your professor. You do not have to use the Test Center.
- You
do not need to complete the Proctor Form if you are not using the Test
Center.
Special
Situations
1.
Sick Days and No-Shows
- If
you are sick on a scheduled test day, you must contact your professor and
follow your professor’s policies about missed tests. The Test Center is
just the location where you receive accommodations. You are still subject
to the policies for your course. Please also contact the Test Center.
- If
you do not show up for a scheduled test time, the Test Center staff will
contact your professor and will not administer the missed test until we
have heard from your professor.
2.
Final Exams
During
Final Exams, the Test Center has extended hours and specific exam times.
- The
extended Test Center hours are 8:00 a.m. - 6:45 p.m.
-
Available exam times are 8:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 3:00 p.m.
Saturday Exams:
During Final Exams only, the Test Center will open Saturday morning and will
have 2 available exam times: 8:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Space
is Limited: As
always, schedule each exam at least 5 days in advance so that the Test Center
staff is prepared to administer it. Schedule each exam for the same day and at
the same time your professor gives it in class.
Night
Exams, Scheduling Dilemmas, and Solutions:
-
If your exam is at 6:00
p.m. and the Test Center is closed, see the “Scheduling Exceptions” section.
- If
you attempted to schedule your exam 5 days in advance, but the Test Center
has no available room, the Test Center staff will contact your professor to
let him/her know there is no available space at the time you requested. We
will offer other options based on what is available. We ask that you
also contact your professor. If you planned ahead, we will work with you
and your professor to find reasonable testing options for you.
