Please congratulate the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for being Chapter of the Month for September!!
When it comes to Alpha Kappa Alpha, programming is a serious matter. The women strive to inform the community about issues that typically go unnoticed. During the month of September, they hosted “The Joker”, which was their most successful program to date. The chapter, with the help of Chief Zebedis, informed the campus on how to react if an active shooter came to campus and what characteristics one may encompass. They also hosted, “So You Think You Can Vote?”, which taught the campus how to vote. They had actual voting machines present available for practice and voting registration available at the conclusion of the program. In the month of September the chapter has provided over 200 hours to the Rock Hill community. They donated cans to homeless shelters through a collaboration program with Kappa Sigma Fraternity. They also have continued to participate in our ongoing community service at Boyd Hill Recreation Center Afterschool program. The chapter has held workshops with young girls ages 12-18 twice a month through their national Emerging Young Leaders programs. Mu Xi is truly a magnificent chapter. The month of September was only the beginning of what the chapter has in store, not only for the campus, but for the community.
