The One-Year Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT5)

This full-time degree program allows students to earn a Master's degree and teaching certification in one year (three semesters). Graduates of this program will meet South Carolina course requirements for certification as a teacher in one of the following certification areas: art, biology, chemistry, English, French, math, social studies, or Spanish.

The MAT5 is designed for, and open to, students who completed a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university within one year of starting the MAT5 program. See admission requirements for complete details. Applicants who do not meet the eligibility requirements are welcome to apply to our traditional Master of Arts in Teaching program.
