Advisement

   Academic advisement at Winthrop is viewed by both faculty and students as an integral part of the learning process. The primary role of the academic advisor is to assist the student in planning a course of study which leads to the desired degree.

   A graduate student who has been newly admitted to a degree program in a particular discipline is assigned an advisor in the college offering that degree. Generally, the adviser assignment is not changed unless the student changes degree programs.  Prior to registration for each term, the student is required to contact the academic adviser to obtain assistance in planning the particular courses to be taken.
