Office of New Student and Family Programs

Dear Family Members,

Welcome! We are thrilled that your student has chosen to attend Winthrop University. At Winthrop, we understand that when a student goes to college, a family goes to college. We know that you will be an important part of your student’s collegiate experience and hope that, through our programs and services, you will receive the knowledge and tools to help support your student during this exciting and challenging time.

We hope that you will take advantage of our Family Orientation program that is offered in conjunction with Freshman Orientation, Full Day Transfer Orientation sessions, Fall Orientation, and Spring Orientation.

If you haven't already, we hope you will sign up to receive our monthly e-newsletter, the Eagle Family Connection. If you attend Family Orientation and supply your email address during the registration process, you are automatically added to our list. You can also sign up by emailing us at

We also invite you to participate in the annual Family Day, typically held the first Saturday in October. Family Day offers an opportunity to visit your student and a full schedule of family-oriented activities for you to enjoy.

If you have a question about Winthrop, our list of Frequently Asked Questions is a great place to start. If you can't find the answer to your question, please feel free to contact our office via email at or by phone at 803/323-2387.
