Environmental
Sciences and Environmental Studies
The Environmental Program at Winthrop University began in August 2001 and includes two majors. The
Bachelor of Science Degree in
Environmental Sciences educates students in the scientific, political, ethical, and policy aspects of environmental issues. It prepares students for scientific careers in industry, government, and consulting, and for graduate school programs in environmental sciences. The
Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Environmental Studies provides students with a broad introduction to the scientific, social, political, cultural, economic, and policy aspects of environmental issues. The BA degree requires students to minor in a discipline linked to their major. Students will be prepared to pursue careers with environmental groups, policy groups, and consulting firms and to continues studies in graduate programs in environmental studies and law.
