2013 Retreat Schedule

You will begin your Winthrop leadership journey starting with our retreat.  You will participate in team-building activities, including a day rafting trip to the US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. You will learn about Winthrop’s rich history, participate in leadership-focused activities, and have discussion around the movie The Emperor’s Club.

August 13-15, 2013

Tuesday, August 13

9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Move in to to Richardson Hall. When you check in at your residence hall, you will need to pick up your binder and shirt at the front desk.

5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Dinner on your own

6:00 pm ‐ 8:30 pm
Introductions, program overview and teambuilding activities at DiGiorgio Campus Center (DIGS) Rm. 114
* Wear comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes for team-building.

Wednesday, August 14

Make sure to wear your EL Shirt!

Breakfast (optional) in Thomson Cafeteria

9:00 am
Load vans outside of Thomson to depart for US National Whitewater Center (USNWC)

9:45 am
Arrive at USNWC and unpack

10:00 am
Safety Orientation

10:30 am - Noon
Whitewater Rafting

1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Lunch at Harry's Grille and Tavern

3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Free time and rest

5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Dinner at Thomson Cafeteria

Load cars outside of Thomson & depart for the Shack

Take SLPI

Develop leadership teams

Lunch, activities, and bonding time

Discussion about academics and the first assignment

Free time (buy books, pick up parking decals, explore campus, etc.)
