The Emerging Leaders program is designed to educate and empower 20-25 first year students for positional leadership roles at Winthrop University. The program is designed to offer incoming freshmen the opportunity to explore their leadership potential and abilities through education of leadership theories and practices, as well as personal leadership exploration.
This year's selected participants of the program will be part of a Living-Learning Community. Students are highly encouraged to live on the same co-ed floor of a residence hall (however, are not required), share academic courses, and go on a leadership retreat just prior to the start of Welcome Week. In the fall semester, participants will engage in a leadership class together on Mondays from 2 p.m.-3:15 p.m., as well as share an ACAD 101 section on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m.-10:45 a.m.
This program is highly selective and an opportunity for Winthrop's new students to enter into a world of leadership. Application for the 2015 class will be posted in April. If you would like to be notified when the fall 2015 application is available please click here.
