Each year, approximately 30 Winthrop students assemble to develop support for Winthrop. All money raised during the Phonathon directly supports the efforts of the university by sustaining student scholarships, faculty awards, academic programs, the alumni association and much more.
Phonathon participants make a substantial impact, raising thousands of dollars each semester. Furthermore, through the student caller position communication skills are strengthened and unique networking opportunities with Winthrop alumni, parents, family, and friends are gained.
The Phonathon meets nightly Monday through Thursday and Sunday afternoons to call Winthrop alumni, parents, and friends. The primary goal is to increase alumni participation in giving and connect alumni, parents, family, and friends.
Student callers believe strongly in Winthrop and its mission. In fact, many of our participants are scholarship recipients. They connect with Winthrop alumni, parents, and friends to request support with the continuation of the Winthrop experience for future students through a gift to Winthrop. While sharing their unique Winthrop experiences with one another, callers are able to express their sincere gratitude for assistance in building their vital education.
We are looking for students who are passionate about Winthrop, have exceptional communication skills and favor more than "just a job." Being a Phonathon caller is a great opportunity to serve as a Winthrop representative, build your resume, further develop professional skills and network with Winthrop alumni, parents and friends. If you are highly motivated, driven, passionate about Winthrop, willing to learn and work vigorously, the Phonathon program may be a perfect fit. Apply today for the Spring 2016 Phonathon.
